After beating Slovakia 5-0 on the opening day, Germany took another 5-0 victory on day two at the #EMWTC20.
Germany is seeded four at the 2020 European Women’s Team Championships, and the German team is cruising towards the final stage winning the second match in the group stage against Portugal.
Yvonne Li won the first point for Germany before Fabienne Deprez, Stine Küspert/Kilasu Ostermeyer and Miranda Wilson made it 4-0 for the Germans.
- I am quite happy with my performance. I am coming out of an injury and it is my first match for Germany on senior level, so I am happy, Wilson said.
Confident rookie
The strong women’s doubles, Isabel Herttrich/Linda Efler, did not enter the court in Liévin due to a Portuguese injury, so the 5-0 victory was secured without playing the last match of the tie.
The 19-year-old rookie, Miranda Wilson, is confident that the German team will be playing for medals at the championships.
- I think we have a quite good chance for medalling here. Of course, it depends on the quarterfinals and who we get, but I am really looking forward to it, Wilson mentioned.
In the last tie of the group stage Germany will be playing Latvia.
