Tough morning – fun evening

It has been down and then up for Emilie Hamang.

The Norwegian women’s singles was taught a lesson against world number 30, Kirsty Gilmour. Hamang, who is ranked 295, lost in straight games 21-9 21-5.

- Kirsty is one of the best players in the world, Hamang said.

- Against Kirsty I was really nervous, and I did not believe that I could get any points, she added.

Mind changing
In the second tie of the day Norway faced Poland, and for Hamang it was for sure like night and day. The 22-year-old beat Wiktoria Dabczynska 21-17 21-15.

- The Polish girl was easier to play against and I changed my mindset. I tried to focus on winning, and I did.

- The support from my team mates really motivated me, and although I was tired, I wanted to win for my team.
