Badminton Europe (BEC) organised the BEC Shuttle Time Trainer/Tutor Course 2020 in Papendal, Netherlands last week from 24 to 26 of January.

As usual, the course lasted two and a half days, and gathered 12 participants from five countries this year. These countries are Italy, Greece, Netherlands, Sweden and Ukraine

Once again, the course has been a great experience for every participant, with a dense schedule that was well managed by the experts (Henri Vervoort and Kristaps Pilveris) and the organizers from Badminton Netherlands.

The first day of the course was mainly dedicated to a good understanding of the Shuttle Time resources and the role of Shuttle Time Teachers and Tutors. After a quick introduction and an “ice breaking” session, allowing all the participants to get to know each other better, the practical sessions started on court. Each candidate was delivering Shuttle Time sessions as Teachers and then as Tutors, while they were observed and assessed by our two experts.

The second day was the opportunity for the participants to be in the role of Tutors and Trainers, meaning assessing other candidates playing the role of Tutors, Teachers and Pupils. This exercise was a great way to test different types of skills such as tutoring, questioning and giving feedback.

A great opportunity

Laia Oset from Italy was one of the participants at the BEC Shuttle Time Trainer/Tutor Course 2020 in Papendal, Netherlands. She was very pleased with how the course went.

- This course has been a great opportunity for me to learn more about the Shuttle Time program and how to use it in our particular context. I really appreciate that the experts gave us a different approach than what most of us are used to as coaches or players. They have showed us that no matter what situation or space you have, Shuttle Time can work for everyone. This program is a very useful tool to approach schools in a different way and I am looking forward to use this new knowledge and ideas back in Italy, said Laia Oset

Lastly, we also have a quote from BEC Officer, Luca Crippa.

- I would like to thank Badminton Nederland for the great work in hosting the course and organising all the logistics perfectly. I would also like to thank all the candidates for their participation and involvement, and of course the two Shuttle Time experts for their great delivery. Our goal is to bring Shuttle Time all over Europe, implementing it every year in new countries, stated BEC Officer Luca Crippa.
