2019 saw the most significant event on the European calendar, the European Games, taking place in Minsk, Belarus. They are the continental Games in the Olympic tradition for Europe, occurring every four years. The badminton was held at the Falcon Club, from 24 to 30 June.

Selena Piek and Cheryl Seinen won the women's doubles final for the Netherlands in a long close fight with Brits Lauren Smith and Chloe Birch. However, Smith got her gold in the all-British mixed doubles final featuring Chris and Gabby Adcock and Marcus Ellis and Lauren Smith.

Ellis helped himself to a second gold with partner Chris Langridge in the men’s doubles final. The current Olympic bronze medallists defeated Denmark’s Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in straight games.

Danish double
Mia Blichfeldt took the women’s singles gold for Denmark, overcoming a strong challenge by Kirsty Gilmour.

Anders Antonsen doubled the gold for Denmark in the men’s singles by defeating Brice Leverdez of France in three games. For the first time, Israel won a medal at a major European event when Misha Zilberman was victorious in a three-game battle with Mark Caljouw to reach the semifinals.
