Badminton Europe spoke to Denmark’s Lasse Mølhede after he and his partner, Mathias Bay-Smidt beat England’s Ben Lane and Sean Vendy, in two games 21-18, 22-20, to reach the final at the SaarLorLux Open in Saarbrücken, Germany. We’ve asked Lasse Mølhede about how he felt after winning today’s match and he’s shared the following with us:

- It’s really hard to say what we did better today against Sean and Ben. It was all about getting the offense in the match, because the shuttles were really fast and it was hard to stay in defense. So there was a lot of battle in the match at the middle court. I think it was a really good match from both sides and very intense. We were just a bit luckier in the end. They could have won as well. We knew that it was going to be a tough match, because Ben and Sean have played really well on the tour lately, and I have struggled with injuries in both feet all summer, so I’m really proud that we made it to the final in this tournament, especially today, he stated.

In tomorrow’s final the Danish pair will be up against China’s Di Zi Jian and Wang Chang who are currently ranked 61 in the world and seeded fifth in the tournament. Mølhede’s commented about his predictions for tomorrow’s match:

- We have not finished yet. We will enjoy play the final tomorrow against the Chinese as underdogs and play free. But we also know that it will be even tougher against these guys. We have to play at our best level to push them.

Europe will also be represented in the women’s singles final where Denmark’s Line Christophersen will be up against Li Yun (CHN), after beating home favourite Yvonne Li in Saturday’s semifinals in three games 16-21, 21-11, 21-14, and by England’s Chloe Birch/Lauren Smith who will also face Chinese opposition in the women’s doubles final, after securing their spot winning over Germany’s Linda Efler and Isabel Herttrich, in two games 24-22, 21-19.
