Matthew Abela from Malta practices at the Centre of Excellence in Holbaek, Denmark on daily basis. Last week he flew to Kibbutz Hatzor in Israel to play Hatzor International.

In the tournament Abela was top seeded in the men’s singles category and all the way to the semifinal, Abela was facing players from Israel. He won every match in straight games.

The sixth seeded Christopher Klauer from Germany was the opponent in the semifinal, and the first player Abela was facing who was not from Israel.

The end station
The semifinal became the end station for Matthew Abela as the German won 21-14 21-5.

At his Facebook page Abela wrote:

- Semifinal loss to Christopher Klauer yesterday at Hatzor International. Had a good run in the first 3 matches but disappointed with my performance in the last match. Went in with the wrong game plan and struggled to change is as the game went on. Overall happy to have advanced quite a bit in this tournament.
