Finally, Mark Lamsfuss and Isabel Herttrich beat Marcus Ellis and Lauren Smith after losing three matchups in a row.

Mark Lamsfuss and Isabel Herttrich from Germany have lost three times in a row to Marcus Ellis and Lauren Smith from England. Today was the day that the winning streak ended for Ellis and Smith. Lamsfuss and Herttrich won 21-17 21-15 against the winners of European Games.

- We were very well prepared for how they would play, because they have done the same all three times. I do not think they were on their top level, so we used that chance, Herttrich said.

Lamsfuss and Herttrich’s next match will be against Takuro Hoki and Wakana Nagahara from Japan, who beat Marvin Seidel and Linda Efler also from Germany in the first round.

A break is not an option
Marcus Ellis and Lauren Smith were not playing at their top level in the opening round of French Open, and it seems like the English mixed double was not where they were supposed to be.

- It was a bity first game. We did have a bit of control, but we tended to kind of let it go which it quite frustrating, Smith said.

- There are some things that did not work as it should today. The Germans played a really good tactical match. We were making easy mistakes. In the end we lost a little belief. Of course, it is our performance, but I think it is our mentality that is the biggest problem, Ellis added.
