Four Europeans were on court at the quarterfinals day at Denmark Open 2019 - now two are left.

The first European in action was Carolina Marin. She was playing against the only 17-years old An Se Young from Korea. Young won the first game 21-18, but in the next two games Marin increased the speed in the match and ended up winning 21-19 21-18 in the last two games.

- I am very happy about the win today. I knew it would be a tough match, An Se Young is a good player with many strengths, Marin said to Badminton Denmark.

- I became tired during the match, but I know I will be ready for tomorrow, she added.

Tomorrow Marin will be playing against Nozomi Okuhara from Japan in the semifinals.

The Danish match
Viktor Axelsen and Anders Antonsen played the all-Danish matchup in the quarterfinals. A match a lot of the Danish fans were looking forward to. Antonsen were leading 16-9 in the first game, but a strong comeback from Axelsen brought him back into the match.

Axelsen ended up winning the first game 24-22. The second game was not close at any time and Axelsen won it comfortable 21-12. With this win Axelsen is in the semifinals where he will be facing either Chen Long or Chou Tien Chen.

- It does not matter who I am defeating in the quarterfinals. I am just very happy to play at this level again and be through to the semifinals. This tournament means a lot to me and my family and friends are here to support me, and I want to give them the opportunity to come and see me again tomorrow which I did, Axelsen said to Badminton Denmark.

The final European on court was Rasmus Gemke. The Dane lost in three games, 14-21 23-21 and 21-13 against the defending world champion, Kento Momota from Japan.
