Emine Seckin found great form today as she beat the WH2 second seed to confirm a place in the semifinals.

Amnouy Wetwithan (THA) lost her seeded position in the draw yesterday after she was defeated in the group stage by Japan’s Rie Ogura.

Group C went to plan for Turkey’s Emine Seckin. Straight games wins saw the third seeded world number six progress as group winner and face the Thai player in the quarterfinals.

Things were looking great for Seckin as she took the opener 21-19, but Wetwithan fought back taking the second game. The third was a solid performance from both and Seckin edged ahead to 21-17 and a place in the last four.

I want to win, I want to go on

We asked Emine Seckin how she felt after her win over Wetwithan of Thailand, and her chances against Rie Ogura tomorrow. She said,

- I’ve wanted to beat her for a long time. I feel great right now.

- I will fight for the win. I want to go on to perform well in the next World Championships but first the Paralympic Games, she added.

- I have proven I could beat the Thai player and I want to go on and beat Ogura from Japan now. I hope I can. I believe I can, said Seckin.
