Luca Olgiati finished second in his group today and has progressed to the quarterfinals for the first time in a strong international field.

Switzerland’s Olgiati has never made it to the knockout stages of an international competition where there has been a full complement of players.

Today’s 21-13, 21-19 win over Thomas Jakobs (FRA) to make it through WH2 group B in second place, sees the Swiss player draw the third seed Daiki Kajiwara (JPN) in the quarterfinals. Group winner was Amir Levi (ISR) who joins Martin Rooke (ENG) and Rick Hellman (GER) into the last eight.

A new star from Denmark

Denmark has discovered a new challenger to the SL4 category, junior player Sebastien Rehling Moeller Nielsen.

Sixteen-year-old Nielsen had a very tough group that included third seed Suhas Yathiraj (IND), Lin Cheng Che (TPE) and Rogerio Xavier De Oliveira (BRA).

Progressing the group is a real achievement, especially the win in straight games over Lin Cheng Che from Chinese Taipei.

He now faces German Jan-Niklas Pott in the round of 16 and a potential quarterfinal later against world number one Lucas Mazur (FRA).
