Five days after their quarterfinals at the World Junior Championships two young Danes walked on court at the Super 750 tournament, Denmark Open.

It has been two intense weeks for the Danish youngsters, Amalie Schulz and Christine Busch. On Friday they played in the quarterfinals at the World Junior Championships in Kazan, Russia and Tuesday morning they walked on court as the first players at Denmark Open.

The young Danes lost in straight games, 21-7 21-15, to Lee So Hee/Shin Seung Chan, Korea, but despite of the big loss the young talents were happy.

- We had entered the tournament but we did not expect to actually play here, Christine Busch said.

- I was not even aware that there were just a few days between the tournaments when we entered, because we did not expect to enter, because we need a lot of points to enter a Super 750 tournament, Amalie Schulz added.

A lot to improve
Fighting for medals at the World Junior Championships and trying to beat two former World Championships bronze medallists is two different things, and the young Danes know what they need to work at moving forward.

- The pressure on the senior level is much harder than playing against junior players. It is hard to play the defensive game against somebody like the Koreans. And of course, we also need to control the nerves better, Busch stated.

- We need to work on the physical elements of the game, and we need to get used to the speed, she added.
