The Circuit returns to Sofia as the Bulgarian International Championship begins today.

Serbia’s Luka Milic is seeded number one in the men’s singles and has the added benefit of playing here two months ago in the Bulgarian Open. In the opening round then the 20-year-old managed to gain a great result against Denmark’s Rasmus Messerschmidt who sat 67 places ahead in the rankings. A similar level of performance at this week's international event could be enough to take the title back to Serbia, who seems to be on the rise after a great European U17 team success recently.

Similarly, home favourite Dimitar Yanakiev had a positive experience at the Bulgarian Open, beating the Irish player Joshua Magee in three tight games. The second seeded Bulgarian will hope to use this experience and familiarity to fight for a title in front of his home crowd.

Pakistan and Austria ready to shine in Sofia
It is always fantastic to see representation at tournaments from a wide variety of nations, so it is great to note the number one seed in the women’s singles being Pakistani player, Mahoor Shahzad. After a handful of tournaments in Africa this year, she will test her form on the European circuit.

Austria comes into the tournament topping the seeded entries for all of the doubles events. Philip Birker and Katharina Hochmeier both have two top seedings, so surely they are hopeful of bringing home some titles from the Bulgarian capital. Could it be a triple title haul for them?
