The English players believe that they can win a medal at the 2019 European U17 Team Championships.

England got the perfect start at the Championships in Gniezno, Poland, winning 5-0 in the opening tie against Croatia.

First on court was women’s singles talent Leona Lee.

- It was quite hard to play in the hall because of the lights, but I played all right. I was a bit nervous knowing that my teammates were watching me. They cheer me on, so I find the motivation. I do not know why I get nervous, but everybody is here, and it is a big tournament, Lee said.

New medal coming up?
England is seeded to reach the semifinals, and Lee believes that the English will reclaim the bronze medal that they won in Prague in 2017.

- I think we have a good chance to win a medal, but countries like Denmark and Russia are tough opponents. There will be a lot of tough matches, Leona Lee stated.

In the group stage England is facing Netherlands, Croatia and Portugal.
