Kento Momota is ready for the World Championships final in Basel.

Ahead of the semifinals the overall men’s singles favourite had not dropped at single game to any opponent at the World Championships in Swizerland. In the semifinals the Japanese star, who are the defending world champion, was not close to do it either.

Kento Momota had won the last three matchups against Sai B. Praneeth from India, and the favourite also made it four in a row winning 21-13 21-8.

- I managed to step into his shots and to attack. That was the key. I cannot enter a tournament without thinking “I am going to win it”, so I really want to win tomorrow, Momota said after the match.

Momota just better
For Sai B. Praneeth there was no doubt: He lost to the better man.

- He of course was better today. I could also have been better. He was ready for the strokes, and he was just patient. He played all the rallies, and suddenly he was attacking. I was getting tired in the long rallies, and after a long rally he attacked, Praneeth said.

Kento Momota will face either Danish Anders Antonsen or Kantaphon Wangcharoen, Thailand, in the final on Sunday.
