Mark Lamsfuss and Marvin Seidel lost to the former world champions, Liu Cheng and Zhang Nan.

The last German players checked out of the World Championships on Thursday night. Marvin Seidel and Mark Lamsfuss lost in straight games 21-18 21-17 to the 2017 world champions, Liu Cheng/Zhang Nan from China.

- They played pretty well. We gave them a good fight, but in the end, they were a bit more solid in the defence than we were today, Marvin Seidel said.

- I am not that disappointed, but of course we are out of the tournament and wanted to play a few more rounds here in Basel, but it was a great performance. If we can play against these two in 47 minutes in two games, we just have to keep on going, Mark Lamsfuss added.

Can beat the best
Being out of the World Championships, the two Germans choose to look forward chasing the next big victory against the best pairs in the world.

- Yesterday (against Endo/Watanabe, Japan) was amazing, and our goal was to keep on working like we did yesterday and to keep our level. I think it worked out, but we have to step up to win these matches and to win more than one, Mark Lamsfuss mentioned.

- We are not far from the best at all. We showed yesterday that we can beat top pairs. When we have a good day, we can beat them. In a year or two maybe the world looks a little different, Seidel added.
