Thanks to Germany's Marvin Seidel and Mark Lamsfuss the world number five will not play anymore in Basel.

One of the bigger surprises at the World Championships day three happened in men’s doubles early Wednesday afternoon:

Marvin Seidel and Mark Lamsfuss from Germany beat Hiroyuki Endo/Yuta Watanabe from Japan, who were seeded five going into the event.

Thriller
The Germans won in three games 21-17 20-22 21-19.

- It is a big thing for us to win against the world number five, Mark Lamsfuss stated.

- I think we played well. We had a good preparation the last two week. We played well at training and we had a lot of confidence. The match yesterday was tough for us, because we did not play our best. We knew that we could step up our game, and I am glad we did that today, Marvin Seidel said.

Really tired
Both Germans play in two categories, and Mark Lamsfuss admits that his body was tired going into the match on Wednesday.

- I was really tired after the two matches yesterday. I am just happy that I keep on working – and Marvin as well – and now we are ready to fight again tomorrow, Lamsfuss explained.

On Thursday Lamsfuss and Seidel will play either Arjun/Shlok from India, or the 16th seeds Liu Cheng/Zhang Nan from China.
