It is time to vote for a spot in the Badminton Europe (BEC) Athletes´ Commission.


The BEC Athletes’ Commission consists of four members. The nomination of this spot is for a para-badminton player. The role of the BEC Athletes´ Commission is to act as the link between active European badminton players, European para-badminton players and the BEC Board of Directors and Commissions.  The successful candidate will be a member in both the BEC Athletes´ Commission and the Para-Badminton Commission.


The nominees:


Alan Oliver

  • Scotland
  • Scotland’s first gold medallist in Para-Badminton
  • Classified as a Standing Lower 3 player
  • UKCC Level 2 qualified coach in Badminton
  • Motivation from Alan Oliver:
    • I seek to be elected onto the BEC Athletes Commission to not only convey my personal playing experience within Para-Badminton but to also bring my professional knowledge within such a relevant field to enable me to fully relate to athletes and their beliefs

Richard Perot

  • France
  • Chair of BWF Para- badminton athletes´ commission 2017-2021
  • Participated in all Europeans and World Championships between 2011-2017
  • Paralympian leader of the Agitos Foundation (International Paralympic Committee)
  • Motivation from Richard Perot:
    • My concern and commitments in sport has always been the same : Promoting personal achievement and transcendence, in a spirit of sportsmanship. I wish today, my candidature as players representative will contribute to structure our sport in Europe and will helped players to achieve their goals.

To elect

  • Eligible players may only vote once (if more votes are received from one player all votes will be considered void)
  • E-mail voting will start on Thursday 15th August 2019 and end on Wednesday 21st August 2019 at 23.59 CET
  • To vote send e-mail to players@badmintoneurope.com and stipulate the player you wish to vote for (remember to attach passport front page for identification) 
  • Physical voting will be possible on Thursday, 22nd August 2019 from 10:00 to 13:00 at St. Jakobshalle in Basel at the information desk at the entrance during the TOTAL BWF Para-Badminton World Championships 2019


To be eligible for election to the BEC Athletes Commission, an “Eligible Player” must:

• be representing a Member Association of BEC and be in good standing with his or her Member Association; and

• be at least 18 years of age and must not have been sanctioned for a doping or a betting, wagering or irregular match offence during his or her sports career; and

• be an active player, where an active player is defined as:

- A player who is present on the World Ranking List at the time of his or her election; and/or

- A player who has participated in any of the latest European Para-Badminton Championships, Para-Badminton World Championships
