28 European World Senior Champions

28 players/pairs from 12 different European countries won gold medals at the World Senior Championships.

More than 1,500 players participated in the BWF World Senior Badminton Championships 2019 in Katowice, Poland last week, and many of the Europeans took home medals.

28 pairs/players won gold medals – one of them being the winner of the 2018 BEC Senior Player of the Year award, Svetlana Zilberman. The Israeli, who will also participate in the World Championships in mixed doubles next week, won the WS 60+ and WD 60+ categories.

The former men’s doubles European and World Champion, Jesper Helledie (DEN), is also worth mentioning. Helledie, who won the World Championships back in 1983 and the European Championships in 1986, won the MD 60+ category alongside Dan Travers, Scotland.
