The quarterfinals and the semifinals took place on Saturday in Sidirokastro, Greece, where the Hellas Open 2019 is played this week.

Vimala Heriau from France has showed great form throughout the tournament and will participate in two finals on Sunday.

Survived from a French duel

In the semifinals of the mixed doubles, Vimala Heriau and her new partner, Fabien Delrue, faced their compatriots William Villeger and Sharone Bauer.

In their first tournament as a pair, Heriau and Delrue managed to pick up a significant victory, winning 21-16 in the deciding game.

- It is never easy to play against your compatriots. This was the second match against our compatriots and we were quite tense. It was mentally hard to stay focused all the time but we finally did it, Vimala Heriau told Badminton Europe.

The final on Sunday will be a duel between Vimala Heriau and Fabien Delrue and the number one seeds Pawel Smilowski and Magdalena Swierczynska from Poland.

- First of all, we need to take some rest and recover. In the final, we will enjoy the match and I will try to have good communication with my new partner, Heriau said.

Heriau: I hope it will be my year

Heriau and her partner Margot Lambert were so close of winningthe title in the women’s doubles in the Hellas Open in Chania last year.

This year the number one seeds Vimala Heriau and Margot Lambert fought against Daniella Gonda and Agnes Korosi from Hungary in the semifinals.

After a bad start in the first game, the French found their patterns and eventually won the match 21-15, 21-11.

In the final they will meet Anastasiya Prozorova and Valeriya Rudakova from Ukraine.

- I think that we have good possibilities of winning the final and I hope for the best results, she added.
