375 is the magical number: The 2019 European U17 Championships in Poland will have 375 individual entries.

It is now past the entry deadline for the 2019 European U17 Championships in Gniezno, Poland, and Badminton Europe is pleased to announce that a record high number of entries and players will take part in the Championships.

375 entries and 318 players from 39 of Badminton Europe’s Member Associations will go to Gniezno from the 30 August to the 7 September.

- It is great to see that so many players are going to the European U17 Championships, Brian Agerbak, General Secretary of Badminton Europe said.

- At the U17 Championships we notice the future top players for the first time. Often when players have been doing well at the U17 Championships, they have the talent to succeed on the European top level, he added.
 
Viktor Axelsen (2009), Carolina Marin (2009), Stefani Stoeva (2011), Olga Morozova (2011), Yvonne Li (2014), Anders Antonsen (2014), Ben Lane/Jessica Pugh (2014) and Nhat Nguyen (2016) are among the European profiles that have been crowned European U17 Champions.

Regulations for the European U17 Championships:

All Badminton Europe Member Associations are eligible to compete in the event. 

Member Associations entering a team in the European U17 Team Championships and placed 1-8 in the previous European U17 Team Championships* are allowed to enter: 

-3 men’s singles 

-3 women’s singles 

-2 men’s doubles 

-2 women’s doubles 

-3 mixed doubles 

* Denmark, Turkey, Scotland, England, France, Czech Republic, Russia and Germany finished 1-8 in 2017. They are entitled to the maximum amount of entries, as well as the host Poland. 

Member Associations entering a team in the European U17 Team Championships but not placed 1- 8 in the previous European U17 Team Championships are allowed to enter: 

-2 men’s singles 

-2 women’s singles 

-2 men’s doubles 

-2 women’s doubles 

-2 mixed doubles 

Member Associations not entering a team in the European U17 Team Championships are allowed to enter: 

-1 men’s singles 

-1 women’s singles 

-1 men’s doubles 

-1 women’s doubles 

-1 mixed doubles 

Participants in the 2019 European U17 Championships shall be restricted to players born in 2003 or later. 

In doubles events where two players from two different Member Associations compete together as a pair, each player will be counted as ½ an entry for the respective Member Association in that particular event.
