Strong European presence in Jakarta!

The BLIBLI Indonesia Open 2019 is running on in Jakarta, Indonesia this week with the first round completing today. 

Europe has managed to move into the second round of this BWF World Tour Super 1000 event, picking up important victories this day as well. 

The powerful Danes

Two Danes today have made significant wins, entering the second round of the tournament.

Mia Blichfeldt from Denmark faced a familiar opponent in the first round. The Dane played against Yip Pui Yin from Hong Kong for the second time, after their last encounter in the YONEX All England Open Badminton Championships 2019, where she was victorious over her.

Fighting to bounce back after her defeat in the opening game with a score of 19-21, Blichfeldt upped her level and beat her opponent with 21-17 at the deciding game.

-Moving on to 2 round of the Indonesia Open 2019. Looking forward to be back on court tomorrow, she stated on Instagram.

Moving forward into the second round, the winner of the European Games 2019, will take on the World’s number five ranked Pusarla V. Sindhu from India for the third time, after their last meeting in the Singapore Open 2019 in April.

A great performance in the Men’s Singles, was also given by the talented Anders Antonsen from Denmark in the Istora Gelora Bung Karno hall. The Dame met Sitthikom Thammasin from Thailand and beat him in two straight games with a score of 21-16, 21-15.

Being in excellent form, the Dane has very good memories of this hall, after his big win at the beginning of the year in January against the Japanese kento Momota in the DAIHATSU Indonesia Masters 2019 at the beginning of the year in January .

-Great feeling to be back in Istora Senayan! Looking forward to another match in this amazing atmosphere, he stated on Instagram. 

In the next round, the winner of the European Games 2019, will meet the number two seed Shi Yu Qi from China for the fourth time in his career, after their last meeting in the CELCOM AXIATA Malaysia Open 2019 in April.

Men’s Doubles: the Germans are in sparking form

Mark Lamsfuss and Marvin Seidel from Germany faced Bodin Isara and Maneepong Jongjit from Thailand today in Jakarta, in a very interesting battle that lasted 52 minutes.

After their defeat at the first game, the winners of the Azerbaijan International 2019, found their steady style of play and won the match by 27-25 at the deciding game.

Tomorrow, they will play against the hosts Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan, seeded as number four, who beat Marcus Ellis and Chris Langridge from England in two straight games with a score of 28-26, 21-17, although the Englishmen had six game points opportunities in the first game.
