The White Nights 2019 ended today in Gatchina, Russia with the Finals of all the events taking place earlier this morning.

It has been an impressive Final day in Russia and all the players have displayed spectacular performances.

However, the Russians players dominated on home soil and climbed on the top of the podium three times.

Three golds today for Russia

The favorite of the Women’s Singles, Evgeniya Kosetskaya from Russia faced Yukino Nakai from Japan in the final. The match had its twists and turned out to be feverish for the host.

After losing the first game by 22-24, the bronze medal winner of the European Games 2019, promptly found the route to the top of the podium and won out her competitor by 21-12 in the deciding game.

In the category of the Mixed Doubles, the number one seeds Rodion Alimov and Alina Davletova defended the title and won out the Irish Sam Magee and Chloe Mage, who won the bronze medal in the European Games 2019.

With the first game in their bags (21-16), the Russians felt confident but eventually lost the second one as they had to deal with a tough and skilled pair as well. The hosts and the last year’s winners, managed to get the better of their Irish opponents with a score of 21-16 at the deciding game, though giving a spectacle to the crowd on the final day.

Needles to say, that both pairs are in such good condition and seem to be in the top pairs of the Mixed Doubles in Europe.

In the Men’s Doubles, the Russians not only survived from a tough draw, unseating the favorites Arun George and Sanyam Shukla from India but also managed to make the Final Day a Russian affair.

In the final, Nikita Khakimov and Alexandr Zinchenko played against their compatriots Vitalij Durkin and Nikolai Ukk, seeded as number four. The first mentioned pair dominated, winning in two straight games with a score of 22-20, 21-16 and climbed on the top of the podium today.

The gold went to Malaysia

In the Final of the Men’s Singles, Iskandar Zulkarnain from Malaysia played against Siddharth Pratap Singh from India.  The Malaysian comfortably beat his opponent in two straight games with a score of 21-13, 21-16, bringing back home a title.

Women’s Doubles: Japan affair

The Final day had a Japanese air. Yukino Nakai and Nao Ono from Japan faced their compatriots Minami Kawashima and Natsu Saito. But only the first mentioned pair managed to rise on the top, winning by 21-13 at the deciding.

Stay tuned and wait for more action taking place the up-coming week.
