Julien Maio has a new Men’s Doubles partner: Éloi Adam.

It is time to get used to a new French Men’s Doubles pair on the European Circuit. Moving forward the former Men’s Doubles runner-up at the 2013 European Junior Championships, Julien Maio, will be playing with Éloi Adam (20) instead of Bastian Kersaudy.

- I decided to stop my partnership with Bastian two weeks ago. I do not regret anything, and I want to remind me of all the good memories I have with Bastian on court, Julien Maio said.

- My short team goal is to find stability in my game and begin to win some tournaments. I also need to be patient and not expecting to perform well every time. I will take it all step by step without having a goal to climb it (the World Ranking) straight away.

Kicks off in August
The new Men’s Doubles, Julien Maio and Éloi Adam, will walk onto court for the first time within the next couple of weeks, Maio revealed.

- We will play four or five tournaments in August and September to see where we are, but it is too soon to talk about our ambitions, Maio said.

- We are ready to take the time we need to improve.

Dreaming of 2024
The French top players are currently looking to qualify for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, but for the players, who are not in the race for the upcoming Olympics there is one major goal: The 2024 Olympics on home soil in Paris.

- It would be awesome to represent my country at home during the Olympic Games, Maio said.

- It is the dream of every player to compete in that kind of event, but I still have some time to improve. If I still have the motivation and also a functional body, I do not see any inconvenience not to think about Paris 2024. I would like to leave my prints in French badminton, and I hope to do it on the big stage, Maio added.

No focus on Mixed Doubles
Julien Maio and the French Women’s Doubles profile, Léa Palermo, are a couple outside of the court, but Maio reveals that there is no plan for Maio and Palermo to focus on walking on court together.

- We had some talk about that before her race to Tokyo 2020 began, but nothing concrete. Right now, she is focusing 100 percent on her Women’s Doubles project with Delphine, which is the best for her. It made no sense for me to propose her something this season, Maio said.

- After this season, we need to see how things will go. Different aspects need to be analysed if we want to play Mixed Doubles together. It is not that common to manage a project with your girlfriend.

Julien Maio and Bastian Kersaudy won the Estonian International in 2017.
