In conjunction with the FZ FORZA Irish Para-Badminton International, the Badminton World Federation organised a BWF National Classifier Workshop (Level 2) in the Indoor Arena in Dublin from 17th to 19th June 2019.

The workshop was led by BWF Head of Classification, Dr. Silvia Albrecht.

What were the aims/objectives of the National Level Workshop:

• To focus on the theory of classification in Para-Badminton.

• To focus in detail on the Minimal Impairment Criteria and show how these are applied in Player Evaluation.

• To observe Player Evaluation under the supervision and identify the stages and the roles of the Classifier in the process.

Positive feedback from participants
Following the workshop in Ireland, there has been some positive reactions from the participants who have taken part in the National Classifier workshop in Dublin.

Each of the National Classifiers was asked to complete a report to help Badminton Europe with the development of the workshop in the future.

Ana Maia from Ireland believes that the workshop allowed her to discuss things regarding the session in detail.

- In the level 2 workshop, we were able to discuss the impairments, evaluation, and minimal impairment criteria deeper, Maia wrote in her report.

- There was also a wider range of impairments among players who underwent classification which helped us to experience different cases, Maia said.

- It was a good experience to have this course with such a good teaching team as well as a very good organization (facilities, staff, hotel, etc.), she added.

Andrea Gutierrez from Spain labeled it as “unforgettable” and really showed her appreciation to the team of staff at the workshop.

- It was an unforgettable experience at the BWF National Level 2 Classifier Workshop, Andrea Gutierrez said.

- It is an honour for me to participate in this classification workshop at a higher level this year, I really appreciate the help from BWF, Badminton Europe, Paralympic Ireland, and Belgium
Badminton Federation, she continued.
