With the action taking place in Calgary, Canada, this week, a significant number of European players are doing their best in this remote continent.

The 2019 YONEX Canada Open is getting underway these days and will end on the 7th of July. Many capable European athletes are participating in this BWF tournament and will move forward by playing today starting at 3:00 pm (local time).

Bøje is in excellent shape

Alexandra Bøje and her partner Mette Poulsen is probably the perfect combination for Denmark. After a few tests in Doubles, the newly formed pair from Denmark seems to be an excellent choice for the category of the Women’s Doubles right now.

In their first tournament in Canada, Bøje and her partner Poulsen faced the number eight seeds Hsu Ya Ching and Hu Ling Fang from Chinese Taipei, achieving very good results.

The Danes managed to get the better of their opponents in two straight games with a score of 21-15, 21-19.

Moving forward into the Quarterfinals, the notable pair will meet Huang Jia and Yu Xiao Han from China in a very crucial match for a spot in the podium.

Alexandra Bøje is also moving into the Quarterfinals in the category of the Mixed Doubles with her partner Mathias Christiansen.

Seeded at number five, the Danes played in the round of 16 against Simon Wing Hang Leung and Gronya Somerville from Australia, winning by 21-11, 21-12 the match.

In the Quarterfinals, they will meet the Frenchmen Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue, who are seeded as number five.

The World’s Number 26 pair is, without doubt, a powerful competitor for the Danes.

It is going to be a very interesting battle between two capable European pairs for a place in the Quarterfinals.

The strong European presence in Canada

In this tournament, many European players are also participating in all disciplines and are doing their best for a spot in the Quarterfinals.

Do not miss the action on court and watch all the European athletes fighting.
