Career-best result for Anders Antonsen

The 2019 European Games is already a history. The badminton tournament of this multi-sport event took place on the 24th to 30th June. Today, the BWF world ranking list has some good news for the medalists of the five disciplines.

Men’s singles winner Anders Antonsen (Denmark) has hit the top 10 to celebrate his career-best result so far.

-Waking up to the sight of my name in the world top 10 for the first time. Proud to have reached this milestone in my career. 

-It was one of my big goals for 2019 along with winning a major title. But no time to relax. There are tons of things I want to accomplish and there is still a long way to go, the Dane wrote on his Instagram

Higher positions for singles players

France’s Brice Leverdez, the silver medalist of the European Games, has moved two spots up occupying position no. 31. While Antonsen got 7000 points for his gold medal, Leverdez got 5950 points.

Misha Zilberman (Israel) has reached the top 40 after getting 4900 points for his bronze medal. The other bronze medalist Raul Must (Estonia) has moved 14 spots up to occupy position no. 73.

Women’s singles gold medalist Mia Blichfeldt (Denmark) has moved 5 spots up to occupy position no. 15. The silver medalist Kirsty Gilmour (Great Britain) is world no. 22 after moving 2 positions up. Bronze medalist Line Kjaersfeldt (Denmark) is world no. 17. Evgeniya Kosetskaya (Russia) is no. 35 after moving two spots up.

Changes for doubles

Men’s doubles gold medalists Chris Langridge/Marcus Ellis (Great Britain) have moved four spots up to occupy position no. 18. Silver medalists Anders Rasmussen/Kim Astrup (Denmark) have stayed on position no. 8. Bronze medalists Vladimir Ivanov/Ivan Sozonov (Russia) are no. 19 after moving two spots up. Jelle Maas/Robin Tabeling (Netherlands) are world no. 29 after climbing three spots up.

Women’s doubles winners Selena Piek/Cheryl Seinen (Netherlands) have moved four spots up to occupy position no. 24. Chloe Birch/Lauren Smith (Great Britain) are world no. 27 after moving three spots up. Alina Davletova/Ekaterina Bolotova (Russia) have moved two spots up to occupy position no. 21. France’s Anne Tran/Emilie Lefel are world no. 29.

Gold medalists Marcus Ellis/Lauren Smith and silver medalists Chris Adcock/Gabrielle Adcock have moved one spot up to stand on positions no. 10 and no. 9 respectively. France’s Thom Gicquel/Delphine Delrue have moved four spots up to occupy position no. 26. Ireland’s Sam Magee/Chloe Magee are standing on position no. 35 after climbing two spots up.
