Mark Lamsfuss and Isabel Herttrich at the Azerbaijan International
15 Europeans in the finals

At the end of today’s semi-finals, there is 15 representatives from Europe in the finals which will be played this afternoon.

Six European pairs have made it into today’s finals, while three single players have made the last two, including an all European final in Men’s Singles.

Court 1 for Europe

On court one this morning, all Europeans that have played have made it to the finals.

It started in the first match of the day when Mark Lamsfuss and Isabel Herttrich won in straight games, against fellow European opponents, Rodion Alimov and Alina Davlrtova from Russia.

Following that, both singles categories on court 1 were all-European affairs. Lianne Tan beat Fabienne Deprez from Germany after three games while Rasmus Gemke picked up a comfortable win against Vladimir Malkov.

The final match on court one, was the Women’s Doubles, which Lauren Smith and Chloe Birch beating Emilie Lefel and Anne Tran in straight games.

Russia spoil France’s party

Russia’s Ekaterina Bolotova and Alina Davletova prevented France having two pairs in the finals of the Azerbaijan International, winning after three games.

Thom Gicquel/Delphine Delrue were winners this morning against Marvin Seidel and Linda Efler after coming from one game down to take the match.

Other European wins came from Sweden’s Felix Burestedt, a member of the Badminton Europe Centre of Excellence, who beat Kalle Koljonen from Finland.

The final match of the semi-final stage saw Marcus Ellis and Chris Langridge through to the finals after they beat Jacco Arends and Ruben Jille in straight games.
