The B.A.B.B. German International 2019 which took place from 15 to 18 of May in Bonn, Germany, ended today with the finals of all events.

The hosts gave an excellent performance in their home country, considering their presence in four of the five events in the final day.

Merkle won the gold

In the Men's Singles, the European Junior Champion Arnaud Merkle managed to get the second title for this year after the Estonian International 2019, without losing a game. The Frenchman faced Max Weisskirchen from Germany and fought valiantly for the title and eventually won in two straight games with a score of 22-20, 21-12.

Two golds went to the hosts

In the category of the Mixed Doubles, the host pair Peter Lang and Hannah Pohl, seeded as number two, faced the number one seeds Emil Lauritzen and Iben Bergstein from Denmark. The Germans beat their opponents in two straight games with a score of 21-13, 21-15 that led them directly on the top of the podium in their home country.

Additionally, in the Women’s Singles, the host Thuc Phuong Nguyen is still in excellent form as she was in the Li-Ning Cyprus Junior on April. The 16-year-old German met the Dane Iben Bergstein. After a tough first game that ended with a score of 13-21 in favor of the Dane, the young German found her steady play and won the match by 21-15 in the deciding. A very significant victory for Nguyen since it is her first as a senior level on her route to the top.

Danish matter in Men’s Doubles

The final of the Men’s Doubles was a battle between the number one seeds Emil Lauritzen and Mads Muurholm from Denmark and their compatriots Philip Illum Klindt and Mads Thøgersen, seeded as number three. In the end, the top of the podium was conquered by Philip Illum Klindt and Mads Thøgersen, winning by 21-18, 21-13.
