As we know, the Olympic qualification period is underway. A time where dreams of representing your country on the biggest stage can be won or lost.

For many players this is a different kind of pressure to deal with. We speak to Germany’s Women’s Singles player Fabienne Deprez to find out. It will be her first serious qualification period, so we asked how her nerves are doing.

-I’m a bit nervous because when I was young and older people asked what I will become when I grow up. I told them that I want to become an Olympic Champion. So in my childhood I already wanted to play at the Olympics.

As can be gathered, the qualification period is one year, but to get to this stage it is almost a life-time of hard work. Deprez however is careful not to add too much weight to the task at hand and says

-I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself. But I’m sure it will be a special year for me and for all the other players.
