From 19 to 26 of May, the world's best badminton will take place in Nanning, China where the Sudirman Cup 2019 will get underway. It is without doubt a spectacular and exciting competition among 31 teams from all over the world, divided into four groups.

This is the 16th edition of the Sudirman Cup and the draw, which was announced on 19 March 2019, consists of twelve teams in the elite group (Group 1) competing for the title. Group 2 and Group 3 (eight teams each) along with Group 4 (three teams) will fight for overall placings.

Denmark, England and Russia are seeded in Group 1 which means that they will fight for the titlte.

Denmark and England: part of an ambiguous group

The competition of Group 1 B will be so nip and tuck that it will interesting to follow the winners until the very end. In this group Europe will fight against Indonesia.

Denmark, the winner of the European Mixed Team Championships 2019, seems to be in such good condition with a squad consisting of all the top players.

The World's number three ranked Viktor Axelsen and also Anders Antonsen look ready to claim Denmark’s title in the Men’s Singles. Mia Blichfeldt will contribute as well to the National team in the category of the Women’s Singles.

Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen is an excellent choice for the category of the Men’s Doubles.

Lastly, after Christinna Pedersen’s career ended with the national team, all formations in the Mixed Doubles and Women’s Doubles are possible.

England features a great team of capable players as well. However, after the significant absent of Rajiv Ouseph in the Men's Singles, the driving force is arguably the doubles.

In the Mixed Doubles, the husband and wife pair Chris and Gabrielle Adcock and potentially Marcus Ellis and Lauren Smith, will fight fiercely for the English team. While, in the category of the Men’s Doubles, Chris Langridge and Marcus Ellis seem ready to do their best.

In the Men's Singles, Penty Toby and Alex Lane are ready to compete powerfully whereas in the Women's Singles, Chloe Birch and Abigail Holden will also contribute to their team.

Schedule for Group 1 B

Denmark [5/8]-England [9/12]
indonesia [3/4]-Denmark [5/8]
indonesia [3/4]-England [9/12]

Russia in a tough Group

Russia is fighting in Group 1 A against Japan and Thailand.

The first match against Thailand is crucial for Russia. This meeting will define who earns a spot in the Quarterfinals, considering that Japan seems almost unbeatable.

In Nanning, Vladimir Ivanov and Ekaterina Bolotova will lead the Russian team, not only due to their participation in the Doubles with Ivan Sozonov and Alina Davletova respectively, but also because they will be a possible formation in the Mixed Doubles, as they were in Copenhagen in the European Mixed Team Championships.

Vladimir Malkov and Sergey Sirant will be the choice for Russian's Men's Singles and Evgeniya Kosetskaya and Natalia Perminova for the Women's Singles.
