Mia Blichfeldt has won her first match at the Singapore Open. After facing Pusarla V. Sindhu (India) at the India Open two weeks ago, she is now playing her in the next round in Singapore.

On Wednesday, the first round of the Women’s Singles got underway in Singapore. The first European of the day playing at the Super 500 tournament was Mia Blichfeldt.

After a match that lasted 45 minutes, the Dane won against her Indonesian opponent, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, in two games (21-16, 22-20).

Successful revenge for Blichfeldt

This victory against Tunjung has been a successful revenge for Blichfeldt. Last year, the 21-year-old had to accept two defeats in a row against Tunjung, at the Denmark Open as well as the French Open. Blichfeldt lost both matches in three close games.

After her first victory against the current world ranked number 16 from Indonesia, Blichfeldt was happy.

- Yes!! Great match and fight today - let’s keep up the good work, she stated after the match on Instagram.

Blichfeldt versus Pusarla 2.0

Tomorrow, Blichfeldt will be facing Pusarla V. Sindhu from India, seeded number four and world ranked number six, in the second round of the Singapore Open.

Two weeks ago, Blichfeldt has played against Pusarla V. Sindhu for the first time – also at a Super 500 tournament: in the quarterfinals of the India Open 2019. The result: 21-19 and 22-20 for Sindhu.

After losing to the Indian in India, Blichfeldt has now the chance to seek revenge in Singapore.

A clash of Denmark and China in the Men’s Singles

Later on, two top matches with European representations will get underway in the Men’s Singles.

The current number three in the world, Viktor Axelsen (DEN), will be facing Lin Dan (CHN), who won the Malaysia Open last week, and Anders Antonsen (DEN) will be playing against Chen Long (CHN), the runner-up of the Malaysia Open.
