After a mixed morning for Europe, there are eleven European players left as we head into the semi-finals of the Finnish Open this afternoon.

Europeans are through

Mathias Bay Smidt/Rikke Søby are through to the semi-finals along with Frederik Søgaard/Alexandra Boje who will play each other later this afternoon.

Also through is Julie Dawall Jakobsen who managed to beat Aliye Demribag from Turkey who she lost to the last time the two met at the Dutch Open 2018.

Joining the Danes is Adam Hall/Alexander Dunn from Scotland, Anastasiia Akchurina/Olga Morozova as well as the German Men’s Doubles Jones Ralfy Jansen and Peter Kaesbauer who beat their Japanese opponents today.

Today was much better

- We played very well, we stuck to our plan and we knew what we had to do, the second set at the end was a little bit out from our plan but that is okay for me, Ralfy Jones Jansen told Badminton Europe.

- It was a good win in the third match for us, not so much in the first and second, but we managed it and I feel really happy about this win.

- Let’s see, today we are getting better and better, I am pretty sure we can make it, just see what we can do, he said.
