Leverdez is ready to fire!

Brice Leverdez speaking to Badminton Europe believes he is as ready as ever, as he prepares to play at the YONEX Sunrise India Open which gets underway on Tuesday.

The Frenchman has been training in Malaysia, since the end of the YONEX All England and before travelling to New Delhi for the tournament this week.

Leverdez will play against his Chinese opponent, Zhou Zeqi, in the first round of the India Open with the potential of playing a match verus Shi Yuqi, should he progress to the second round.

"I will be ready"

Brice Leverdez will be looking to go as far as he can at the India Open, as he looks to kickstart his badminton year after a disappointing YONEX All England in Birmingham.

The Frenchman revealed that despite some issues, he is raring to go and play the first match of the tournament.

“My preparation has been good,” Brice Leverdez said.

“There has been some hard jet lag and pain in my ankle, but I have still managed to practise very well with a lot of quality players," he continues. 

“I have watched, how my opponent (Zhou Zeqi) plays and I think if I have a positive attitude going into the match, I can play a very attacking game,” Leverdez said.

"It is always special"

Leverdez speaking before the tournament in India revealed that there is a good feeling to represent Europe.

There is just six single players from Europe and six pairs representing the continent on court in India this week.

“It is always special to represent Europe in these tournaments, because we know that we have to do good and we want to do good, " Leverdez stated. 

“All of the tournaments nowadays are dominated by Asian players, but we as Europeans will put up a good fight, the few of us that are here.”
