Success for Scotland on day four

Day four of the Orléans Masters has drawn to a close with a number of European hopefuls making it to the Semi-Final stage with Scottish players especially finding themselves in strong positions heading into the weekend sessions.

Scotland’s day got off to a flier as the Men’s Doubles pair of Adam Hall and Alexander Dunn booked their place in the last four with a straight game victory over the Japanese pair Mahiro Kaneko and Yunosuke Kubota,21-14, 21-14.

It was the first meeting between the two pairs so the Scots will be happy to have got one other against a side in which they had no experiencein facing before.

Hall and Dunn will be facing the competitions 5th seeds in the duo of Lee Yang and Chi-Lin Wang (Chinese Tapei) in the Semis tomorrow.

Elsewhere Scotland’s Kirsty Gilmour has also made it into the last four.

The Scot is the top seed in the Women’s Singles and she putout a statement to her rivals with a straight game victory over the 6th seed Sabrina Jaquet (Switzerland).

Gilmour managed to look relatively comfortable despite such tough opposition and led the match from start to finish with a 21-18, 21-16 win.

She’ll face Turkey’s Neslihan Yigit in hope of reaching the final tomorrow.

Home win for Rouxel

In what was a tough day for a number of French players,Thomas Rouxel did manage to get through to the next round to give the home crowd something to cheer.

The 8th seed in the Men’s Singles had to work hard for the win however with his back and forth match with Finland’s Eetu Heino lasting a massive 78 minutes.

Rouxel had to come from behind after losing the opening game in a tiebreak but eventually managed to regain control and ran out a 26-28,21-14, 21-18 winner.

Rouxel will face the Netherlands’ Mark Caljouw in all European Men’s Semi Final tomorrow.
