Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen have lost their first match of the YONEX Swiss Open 2019. The second seeded Men’s Doubles pair was beaten by an Indian newcomer pair.

44 minutes lasted the first match for the Danish Men’s Doubles pair of Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in Basel, before they had to accept a defeat against their Indian opponents, Chirag Shetty/Pranaav Jerry Chopra.

The new Indian pair was able to beat the current world ranked number 7 from Denmark surprisingly in two close games.

After taking the first game with 21-16, the Indians had to handle the comeback of the Danish favourites, but were able to take the lead again and win 21-18 in the end.

"It's no fun being a loser", Kim Astrup stated on Instagram after the match.

For the Danes, it has been an unexpectedly short stay in Switzerland. Their next steps now are the India as well as Malaysia Open.
