Germans Mark Lamsfuss and Marvin Seidel in the Men’s Doubles faced a difficult task today in facing China’s He Jiting and Tan Qiang. Who had just beaten the number 2 seeds, current World Champions and fellow countrymen, Li and Liu. 

It looked like business as usual for He and Tan, who took a substantial lead in the first game. However, a remarkable comeback gave the German pair hope, and they took the first game in settings. Lamsfuss and Seidel then rode the wave of confidence, taking the second game easily. The match ended 22-20, 21-14.

An absolutely delighted pair spoke with is after the match, with Seidel saying

-We performed quite good, we are really happy about the win. It was very difficult 11-3 down but we were able to come back and right now we are really happy.

Assessing the situation
Lamsfuss commented on the swing of the game 

-We just got into the game and we had to assess the situation and then got a lot of key points

When talking about the emotion following the win, Lamsfuss added

-We are so happy, the first time qualifying at the All England, and we want to go for more.

Lastly, Seidel was asked if they can see themselves going all the way. He responded

-We are taking it a game at a time, but a goal would be the Quarter finals. There are a lot of great pairs, but it would be amazing to win the tournament.
