- No easy games for old-timers like us

In their final All England before changing partners, the mainstay pair of Carsten Mogensen and Mathias Boe had a tricky opening match against a defensively robust South Korean pair.

There was added interest as the Danes have never faced Choi Solgyu and Seo Seung Jae before. But it was the experienced Boe and Mogensen who eventually found the pressure points and pulled away with the first game.

The pair then turned up the heat and the win was assured. Winning 21-16, 21-11.

Speaking with the pair as they came off court, Boe commented on their performance.

- We won relatively easy against a really good pair. We are very pleased with our game. Attacking and defending worked well, so we need to continue this for the week.

Boe also shared his view on the standard of Men’s Doubles at the moment.

- The Men’s Doubles field is very strong at the moment. It is almost 32 equally strong pairs. And sadly, there are no easy rounds, even for two old-timers like us.

One more good match
Their next opponents will be number 3 seeds Kamura and Sonoda of Japan, against whom they have a great record. Asking Mogensen about his opinion on this matchup he said

- Looking forward to at least one more good match here in All England. And even if our record against them is good, we have a lot of respect for them.
We need to be at our top-level tomorrow, otherwise they will be too good and too fast.

Lastly, asking the pair about how special this tournament is to them, Carsten responds.

- We really like to play here. For us it is the best tournament outside the World Championships and Olympics, so we will enjoy the atmosphere here and keep thinking about one more match!
