Anders Antonsen, Viktor Axelsen, Line Kjaersfeldt, Mia Blichfeldt, as well as Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen have reached the semi-finals of the BWF World Tour 300 tournament in Spain.

As the first quarterfinal match in Men’s Singles in Barcelona on Friday, Anders Antonsen had to face his European opponent, Rajiv Ouseph. In the end, the Dane was able to win against the Englishman after two games (21-15, 21-16).

- My performance today was okay. I know Raj well, we played against each other a couple of times now. But in the end, I am happy to win after two games and reach the semi-finals, Antonsen said after the match.

- No matter who I am playing against tomorrow, it will be tough, he added.

Straight wins for Antonsen and Axelsen

Next to Antonsen, Viktor Axelsen was also able to win his quarterfinal match against the previous Thailand Masters winner from Singapore, Kean Yew Loh.

- I prepared well for the match today, Kean is a strong opponent. I tried to show my best game, and I think I did so. Now, I am focusing on the preparation for the match tomorrow, Axelsen said.

A Danish Men’s Singles final in Barcelona?

If Axelsen and Antonsen both win their semi-finals tomorrow, they could face each other in the final of the tournament on Sunday.

Next to Denmark’s two strongest Men’s Singles players right now, four more Danes were able to reach the semi-finals on Friday.

Line Kjaersfeldt, Mia Blichfeldt and Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen were able to win their quarterfinal matches. As the only Danes on Friday, Anders Skaarup Rasmussen and Kim Astrup had to accept a defeat against Lee Yang/Wang Chi-Lin from Chinese Taipei.
