Russia beats England

On Day 1 of the European Mixed Team Championships, Russia won 3-2 against England, Germany was able to win four matches against Ireland. 


Wednesday was the first day of the competition between the best eight teams in Europe. At 2.00 PM (CET) the first matches got underway: Russia, England, Germany and Ireland were fighting for the next round in Group 2. 


The first winner of Group 2 on Wednesday was Russia. After four matches, the team was able to win against the number-two-seed and favourite from England. Vladimir Ivanov was the key player of his team, winning two Doubles matches. 


- We were playing very good today. But now, we have to focus on our next matches, Ivan Sozonov said after the Men’s Doubles match between Russia and England.

Next to Russia, Germany was also able to win against the team from Ireland with 4-1. 


- We have a very good team spirit and enjoy playing here, Yvonne Li said after winning her Women’s Singles match.
