Great day for Europe in Jakarta

The Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2019 continues in Jakarta with the second round of the main draw ending today.

A number of European players managed to go through the quarterfinals of the tournament having good performances so far.

Men's Singles: Danish successes

An easy morning for the two Danish Mens Singles players.

Viktor Axelsen, seeded as number six, had a great performance today in Jakarta. Being in excellent form, he won easily Kanta Tsuneyama from Japan by 21-11, 21-9, showing what he can do to the Indonesian crowd.

-QF tomorrow. Thanks for the support, he commented on Instagram.

Tomorrow, in the quarterfinals Axelsen will face the number four seed Chen Long from China, recalling their last meeting few days ago in the Malaysian Masters. It will be without doubt a top quality match and an opportunity for Axelsen to do his best against the Olympic Champion.

Same for Anders Antonsen, who, after an outstanding win in the first round, he had no difficulty overcoming his opponent Shesar Hiren Rhustavito from Indonesia and winning by 21-11, 21-9.

-Great work this morning! Solid performance and now I am ready for my first quarterfinal in Indonesia, Antonsen wrote on Instagram.

Now, Antonsen will play against Lee Zii Jia from Malaysia.

Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus from Denmark had a difficult game against the number one seed Japanese Kento Momota. After a good performance, eventually the match fell the other way from the Dane with 21-18, 22-20.

-Close, but could not quite get there in the end! A few costly mistakes is what made the difference against world no 1 Momota. Lost 21-18, 22-20. Very good performance, so lots of momentum to build on for the coming events in Europe, Vittinghus stated on Instagram.

Quarterfinals for Astrup and Rasmussen

In the Men’ s Doubles, the Danish Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen fought hard and won their opponents Attri Manu and Reddy B. Sumeeth from India by 21-14, 17-21, 21-10.

Now, the number five seeds Danish pair will face the Japanese Takeshi Kamura and keigo Sonoda, who are seeded as number three.

Though match for Marin

The Spanish Carolina Marin won Ga Eun Kim from Korea by 18-21, 21-12, 21-18 after a thrilling match. Moving forward, the number five seed player will face a familiar opponent, Pusarla V. Sindhu from India in a very interesting battle.

England is moving forward in the Mixed Doubles

In the category of the Mixed Doubles, the English pair Marcus Ellis and Lauren Smith had a tough match against Seo Seung Jae and Chae Yujung from Korea that eventually ended in their favor. The Europeans won by 21-15 in the deciding game, securing this way the quarterfinals.
