Hopes for Europe in Indonesia?

The action for Badminton continues in 2019 with the Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2019 which is getting underway this week in Jakarta until the 27th January. 

In this BWF Super 500 event, many top World’s Badminton players are participating in the hope of winning a title. But also a number of capable players are representing Europe towards the end of the first day.

Success in the Mixed Doubles

Moving forward, three European pairs are still fighting in Jakarta. 
 
Chris Adcock and Gabrielle Adcock from England faced the Japanese Yuki Kaneko and Misaki Matsutomo and won 21-12, 21-18. 

-Solid first round win today!, Chris Adcock wrote on Instagram.

The number seven seeds Adcocks will face Goh Soon Huat and Lai Shevon Jemie from Malaysia who beat Marvin Emil Seidel and Linda Efler from Germany in three sets.

Marcus Ellis and Lauren Smith from England won the host pair Alfian Eko Prasetya and Marsheilla Gischa Islami by 21-10 in the deciding game. 

It is still unknown their opponents since the match will be on Wednesday. 

Same also for the German pair Mark Lamsfuss and Isabel Herttrich who had an easy game against the hosts Ronald Ronald and Debby Susanto winning 21-15, 21-13. 

Birch in the main draw

Starting from the qualifying round, day one of the tournament was satisfying for Europe in the category of the Women’ s Singles.  

Chloe Birch from England managed to get the better of her Indonesian opponent Choirunnisa Choirunnisa, winning by 22-20 in the deciding game.

-A set and 11-5 down and I had to really dig deep to come out on top! Luckily the hard work paid off and I won 22-20 in the third set! Happy to be in the main draw tomorrow, to play again in the crazy arena that is the Istora, Birch stated on Instagram.

After a thrilling game in the qualifying round,the English player will face in the main draw Pornpawee Chochuwong from Thailand. 

Thereby, in the main draw tomorrow, four Womens Singles players will try to do their best.
