Europe is on the path to the Semi-Finals

The Princess Sirivannavari Thailand Masters 2019 is running on and a number of European players managed to reach the Quarterfinals on Friday 11th. 

In this BWF Super 300 event, some of the world’s best players are participating. But also Europeans players made a good performance and had good results, so far, that gave them a great start for 2019.

Women’ s Doubles: hopes for a European final

In the category of the Women’s Doubles, Europe is representing in the Semi-Finals from two strong pairs.

The number seven seeds, Ekaterina Bolotova and Alina Davletova, managed to get the better of their opponents, Ng Wing Yung and Veung Nga Ting from Hong Kong, winning with 21-12, 21-17.

Moving forward, the Russians will face the host pair Puttita Supajirakul and Sapsiree Taerattanachai. 


Furthermore, the Dutch pair Selena Piek and Cheryl Seinen, who are seeded number six, won comfortably the number seeds three Chayanit Chaladchalam and Phataimas Muenwong from Thailand with 21-12, 21-13.

In the Semi-Finals, they will play against the number five seeds Wenmei Li and Zheng Yu from China.


Men’s Singles: Leverdez has been in sparkling form

A very good start for the French player since in this tournament he reached the quarterfinals without losing a game. 

The number seven seed, Brice Leverdez from France, faced Lee Zijia from Malaysia and won with 21-11, 21-19. In the Semi-Finals the French athlete will play against Kean Yew Loh from Singapore, who came from Qualification round.

Promising new Dutch pair in the Mixed Doubles

Selena Piek’s Mixed Doubles partner, Jacco Arends, stayed out of court due to a serious injury. Thereby, she played with Robin Tabeling, making their first trial as a couple.      

The new pair from the Netherlands played against the number two seeds, Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai from Thailand and fought valiantly, making a great first performance. At the end, they lost with 21-16, 21-14.
