New year, new opportunities. With the Super Tour finals of 2018 left behind, it is time for a brand new qualification period. The first tournament of the HSBC BWF World Tour is the Princess Sirivannavari Thailand Masters 2019.

Looking at the draw, Europe has the most chances in the women’s doubles event with three seeded pairs. Emilie Lefel/Anne Tran (France), Selena Piek/Cheryl Seinen (The Netherlands) and Ekatarina Bolotova/Alina Davletova (Russia) all have potential to take the Super 300 title home.

On the way to victory, they also need to overcome home favorites Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajonjai.

This first seeded Thai pair also had a good 2018 by knocking their way into the top 10 of the world ranking.

Belgian hope in qualification

Like usually, the Thailand Masters tournament starts with qualification rounds in all events. These qualification rounds will start after midnight, European time.

Belgium will try to be also present in the main tournament, as three of their singles players will come in action tomorrow. Maxime Moreels is most likely to reach the main tournament as he is fourth seeded in the men’s singles qualification.

However, youngster Elias Bracke and European Game silver medallist Lianne Tan will also do everything to keep the Belgian flag high!
