Mathieu Thomas is highly motivated

This edition of ´European Para-Badminton Towards Tokyo 2020´ features Mathieu Thomas from France. The Parisien started with one other sport before playing para-badminton professionally. Listen to his interview and find out which other sport he played and his thoughts about para-badminton.




Thomas is now the European silver medalist in Men´s Doubles, with his new partner, Guillaume Gailly. His previous partner was Lucas Mazur, who now concentrates on Men´s Singles and Mixed Doubles. Thomas participated in four tournaments in 2018, and they are now ranked no.2 in the BWF World Rankings after the Indonesian pair of Ukun Rukaendi and Hary Susanto.

A little more about Mathieu Thomas

Thomas became a father of a pair of twins last year and since then, he had to prioritize his goals on his ambition to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. Thomas is still a consultant for Ippon Technologies but is now a fulltime player. In Paris, he is licensed at Montrouge Badminton Club.

ʺ I´m in full preparation for the Road to Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. I train hard every day for this and I know that this road will be long but I am already looking forward to competing in Turkey in March, ʺ expressed Mathieu Thomas. We wish Mathieu good luck in his Paralympic dream!
