Saina Nehwal is one of the world's top players, but sometimes playing on court is not the only thing that players travelling the world do when they are at a tournament.

The Denmark Open finalist spoke to Badminton Europe about the joy of travelling and playing the sport that she loves, but at the same time seeing the landmarks from around the globe.

Nehwal, number nine in the world, is slowly but surely getting back to her best after she undergone surgery in her knee.

Dreams come true

The Indian star revealed to Badminton Europe that she loves to try out different cultures when she is on tour.

The 28-year-old also showed her admiration for having the opportunity to represent her country.

- Travelling around the world and seeing different countries with different cultures is definitely everyone’s dream. I am blessed to be serving my country and being part of the Indian team, she told Badminton Europe.

- Exploring the world and playing matches is great. I am trying to win those matches, but am also able to experience the places as well, she said.

- I am a really big fan of Singapore, it is an amazing city and if I got the chance to go there on holiday, then I would go for it, the Indian added.

Finding the right balance

Nehwal spoke about how going to different places to play badminton can sometimes get repetitive and admitted that it can be hard to continue to do it all of the time.

- When you reach the city, you get a different confidence that you have to play the match, Nehwal said.

- So, you have to get into the rhythm, but when you are not playing or when you lose matches, you sometimes get the chance to see different things in the city, she added.
