On Saturday, Germany played against Austria, and Sweden versus Slovenia in Group 5 of the EMTC Qualification in Erlangen, Germany. Such as on Friday, Germany and Sweden both succeeded.
For Team Germany, Linda Efler and Emil Seidel won the last match of the day in the duel against Austria, that ended with 4-1 for the Germans.
Next to the German Mixed Double pair, Fabienne Deprez, Isabel Herttrich/Carla Nelte and Bjarne Geiss/Jan Colin Völker won their matches.
Probably last match of Herttrich and Nelte
Next to being one step closer to qualify for the EMTC in Copenhagen in February 2019, the match of Isabel Herttrich and Carla Nelte was one of the highlights of Day 2 in Erlangen. The German Women’s Double won their match after two straight games.
- We are more happy than sad today. Even tough, it might have been our last match, Herttrich said.
- It is very special for us to play at home, I enjoy it, Nelte added.
Nelte might play her last match tomorrow, at the last day of the EMTC Qualification in Germany.
Sweden versus Germany
Such as Germany, Sweden won with 4-1 on Day 2 in Erlangen. The Swedish were facing the Team of Slovenia.
Clara Nistad/Melker Z-Bexell, Ashwathi Pillai, Richard Eidestedt/ Melker Z-Bexell and Emma Karlsson/Johanna Magnusson were able to win their matches.
In Men’s Singles, Miha Ivanič from Slovenia was the better man, and beat Albin Carl Hjelm in two games (21-15, 23-21).
Tomorrow, Germany and Sweden will play directly against each other. The winner of this duel is qualified for the EMTC in Copenhagen.
