Starting tomorrow, the Korea Masters gets underway in Gwangju, Korea. One of six Europeans that are participating in the tournament, is Misha Zilberman from Israel.

The 29-year-old Zilberman is competing in two categories at the BWF World Tour Super 300 tournament in Korea: in Men’s Singles, as well as Mixed Doubles.

With Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, the Israeli has a strong player to face in the first round in Men’s Singles. His Indonesian opponent is the current number seven in the world and the number-two-seed at the Korea Masters.

- I always like to play against top players to see, where I can improve my game. But he is a strong opponent, Zilberman revealed to Badminton Europe.

- He is an attacking player. My game plan is not to give him the opportunity to take advantage of his best sides. If I can keep this tactic during the match, my coach and I will be happy.

Zilberman – The Underdog

With Anthony Sinisuka Ginting being the favourite, Zilberman defines its own goals for the match against the Indonesian:

- I do not focus that much on the result against a top player like him, as it is not so critical for me. My focus is to play my best, but even if I will do so, it still might not be enough to win.

In Mixed Doubles, Misha Zilberman is competing with his mum, Svetlana Zilberman. The mum-son duo is playing against the currently world-ranked number 18 pair, Seo Seung Jae/Chae Yujung.

- I am participating in Mixed Doubles to focus on the feeling on court, because the match will get underway one day before my Men’s Singles match, Zilberman said.

- My expectation for the Korea Masters is to do my best and to learn how to improve my game style, he added.

Six Europeans and one multi-national pair in Korea

The Korea Masters takes place from Tuesday to Sunday. In total, six Europeans have made their way to Gwangju to compete at an international level.

Next to Misha Zilberman, Milan Ludik from Czech Republic and Eetu Heino from Finland are playing in the first round of the tournament in Men’s Singles.

The Dutch player, Soraya de Visch Eijbergen, is participating in Women’s Singles. Her opponent in the first round: Goh Jin Wei from Malaysia, who is seeded number seven.

Besides, Olga Konon from Germany and Chan Hee Kang from South Korea are competing together in Women’s Doubles.
