The Scotland Open had a difficult start for the home nation as Mixed Doubles pair Adam Hall/Julie Macpherson have been knocked out in straight games, but overall it has been a positive day.

The number two seeds for the tournament, Mark Lamsfusss/Isabel Herttrich made it through to the next round with no real stress after overcoming the Scots in their home tournament.

After losing out to their German opponents in straight games, Adam Hall believes that concentration was not there in his pairs performance today.

We need to be better

The Mixed and Men’s Doubles player expressed his disappointment to the result when speaking to Badminton Europe after the match.

We’re quite disappointed with the performance today, we struggled to get going throughout the match and didn’t really implement the game plan that we had beforehand, Adam Hall told Badminton Europe.

We love playing in this tournament, the crowd really get behind you, they actually helped us get through the first round of the Mixed yesterday in a tight three game match, he added,

Overall, a good day so far

Despite the home nation not getting through to the next round this morning, there have been some good results for the continent.

Eight European’s have made it to the next round with many still to play on court, including players from Ireland, England, Denmark, France and the Netherlands.

Irish siblings Sam and Chloe Magee were able to overcome the number five seeds from England Ben Lane and Jessica Pugh in a three-game thriller similar to their match yesterday against their French opponents.
