A victory for the favourite

On Thursday, the second round of the AIG FZ FORZA Irish Open got underway in Dublin, Ireland. Thereby, Sam and Chloe Magee were able to win their first match of the tournament at home.

The Irish Mixed Double pair, Sam and Chloe Magee, was the favourite for the match in their home country on Thursday.

Without needing to play in the qualification round, they directly started to compete in the second round of the tournament. 


Their French opponents on Day 2 in Dublin, Samy Corvee and Margot Lambert, are currently-world ranked number 604, whereas the Irish pair is ranked 40th. 

A straight win 


Around 11.30 (local time), the match got underway, and was done 24 minutes later. The result: The favourite from Ireland won after two straight games (21-8, 21-13). 

Tomorrow, Sam and Chloe Magee have to face Carl Christian Mork/Solvår Flåten Jørgensen from Norway in the quarter-final.

The match between the Irishmen and the Norwegians is the first meeting between the current number 40 and 385.
