Vivien Sandorhazi is 17 years old. The Hungarian Women’s Singles and Doubles player spoke with Badminton Europe about her goals, ambitions and dreams.

On Monday, the Li NING BWF World Junior Championships got underway in Markham, Canada. Representing Hungary, Vivien Sandorhazi is participating in the tournament in Women’s Doubles and Singles.

Before playing at the BWF World Junior Championships, the Hungarian was competing in the Hungarian International, where she reached the round of 16 in Women’s Singles.

- This tournament was like a test for me, before playing at the BWF World Junior Championship, Sandorhazi revealed to Badminton Europe.

Winning a bronze medal

The 17-year-old mentioned that her next target is to reach the Top 16 at the Li NING BWF World Junior Championship.

This year, Sandorhazi was able to win a bronze medal at the European Junior Championships in Tallinn and to participate in the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Despite her young age, Sandorhazi is confident to play badminton at senior level soon:

- I have improved my game, but I still need to improve more. I feel like being just one step away from the senior level. In fact, sometimes I can beat top players, but at the same time, my age and my small experience can be a disadvantage.

No competition with compatriots

Hungary has a strong group of Woman’s Singles players. But Sandorhazi does not think of her compatriots as competitors as such:

- I do not see my compatriots so competitively, because we practice together. Laura and I are from the same town, Reka and I have the same age and we played a lot of finals against each other. So, the relationships between us are very healthy.

In general, the Women’s Singles and Doubles player is ambitious and has big goals for the future:

- The biggest goal in my career is to play at the Olympic Games. I do not know which ones I might be able to reach one day, but I would not only like to participate, I want to win some games there.
